The “Secret”….

One of my students lent me her copy of “The Secret” a few weeks ago. For those who don’t know what it’s about, it’s the secret about getting the things you want in life. A movie was made a few years ago, and I have a copy of it somewhere, but never got around to watching it. I read the book in one sitting though – while I was getting a haircut. Haha!!

The Secret

Anyway it was an interesting read. It’s pretty long, but the bottomline simply is this: to get what you want, you have to believe that you will get it, and whatever you do or how you behave has to be as if you’re going to get it.

It suggested trying small things first, like visualizing that you will always get the parking space that you want. So far that has kind of worked for me. OK, only once because the other times I always forget to visualize.

It also gave an example of a guy who wanted $100k, so he believed that he will get it; and suddenly he had an idea which generated him that much. And his wife suggested he thought of $1 million… and he created the Chicken Soup series.

Inspired by that story, I thought, hey, who knows, it might really work? Besides I got a good parking space once. So I started thinking of RM25k – preferably by the end of the year.

And lo, presto! Guess what I got in the mail a few days later?

A LETTER FROM MY CREDIT COMPANY OFFERING A RM25,000 LOAN!!!

I cracked up on the spot, I tell you. I threw the letter away immediately. I should have taken a photo of it before I threw it away to post it here, but I found it too hilarious.

I want RM25,000 without having to pay it back! I don’t mind if I have to work for it. But I don’t want to have to PAY BACK anyone for it – if I took that loan, I’d have to pay the bank back more than RM30k in total!

Well, that’s the Secret for you…

Random thoughts

I’ve wanted to post this for a while now but never had the time, since I was all tied up with the school’s Performance & Awards Nite, and then the trip to KK…

Anyway on the last day for the Secondary 5 students, I found this on my desk at the end of the day:

Cup from Kristina

Thank you, Kristina! You really made my year. You were the only one who gave me something on parting this year. You should have been in my homeroom last year! :)

Here’s another random thought. Over the past few weeks, having to work on the school yearbook as well as the last-minute fix-it for the Performance & Awards Nite souvenir book, I had to borrow thumbdrives from different people to copy the necessary data. Interestingly, I found that all the thumbdrives I borrowed at that point were ALL ALMOST IDENTICAL:

KINGSTON drives all in a row...

Oh, and I just came back from a trip to Kota Kinabalu as a chaperone for the Form 4 brats. I’ll go into the trip details much later; but for now I’d like to share this photo cuz I was testing the Panorama function in my brand new camera and at the time had no idea how to work it but I just tried; and learnt how to combine them using the accompanying software :)

Oh, and one more thing. Look closely at the sign. Does it say “Henna”? …. or “Genna”? :D

Does it say

By the way, this is Genna (photo courtesy of Genna):
