Chemistry’s Cool

UPDATE!! [28th October 2009]

Here are the links to the answers for the year-end examination papers 2009.

Kids, one thing to note: like the mid-year, the marking scheme for Paper 3 Question 2 is not set exactly as per SPM format. As have been taught to you, in Paper 3, every sub-question is worth 3 marks. Question 2 is worth 17 marks, and currently is as such:

Question 2 is broken into sub-questions (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) and (f), which gives us a total of 6 question x 3 marks = 18 marks. So if you get 17 or 18 marks, you’ll stll get the full 17 marks.

Actual SPM marking scheme is as follows: the question will be broken into sub-questions (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) only which gives a total of 5 questions x 3 marks = 15 marks. To get the additional marks, you need to score above 13 to get +2 marks. If you score between 8 and 12, you will get +1 marks. Anything less, you don’t get additional marks.

The reason we have set the papers slightly different is allow you to familiarise yourselves to the Paper 3 format before you are tormented with the strict marking scheme. Be prepared for this kind of marking scheme next year! (I believe this system is known as the Rubric system. Please correct me if I’m wrong.)
