Day 3

Morning Yoga

Many of us had thrown up the night before, but by morning most of us were feeling better. The morning session started with a yang yoga session with Jo, after a cup of juice. Some ladies opted not to go for the yoga session, so it was a smaller crowd that did the yoga this morning. Gathering at the same place we did the agnihotra session, we placed our mats facing Jo.

I didn’t want to put my mat on the bricked area because when I did the yin yoga in the session the day before, my knee hurt in certain poses when I had to put my weight on my knee. So I put my mat on the grassy area instead where the ground was much softer.

It was a lovely yoga session out in the open in the morning sun, and it was a good workout which everyone enjoyed. I love sweating after a yoga session because it makes me feel like I’ve exercised, and this was no exception.

Riverside Meditation

Immediately after the yoga session, Jo told us to pick up our things quietly — meaning no talking or even eye contact with our friends — to keep us in that meditative mode. We packed up, holding our mats, and walked out to the riverside where we spread our mats and sat there in contemplative meditation. It was very serene, and honestly I could have sat there all day. Unfortunately we had to make a move, so after about 10-15 minutes, Jo ended the session by telling us to cleanse ourselves by washing our feet and hands in the river. Everyone else went back to the rooms to pack, but a few of us stayed back to take photos by the riverside.

Missed Lunch

We must have missed Jo’s announcement, because the three of us – Claudia, Cassandra and me – thought that we were meeting for an early lunch at 11.30am, but it had been brought forward to 11am. We had showered and packed up, and by the time we wandered over to the dining hall at 11.40am, everyone had eaten and everything was packed up. They had been waiting and there were exactly three bowls of soup left, but they didn’t know who hadn’t come down. And apparently some of the ladies had already left earlier so they weren’t sure who was still here and who weren’t.

We didn’t blame them as this was really our own fault, since we were the only ones who missed the announcement. I was only disappointed because I had wanted to try the soup which Jo had been talking about since yesterday. We also missed the weighing session which took place during the lunch.

And… that was the end of the detox retreat!

Fruit and Vegetable Stalls

We had the option to drop by some stalls which sold fresh fruits and vegetables at prices much lower than in PJ and KL. Claudia, who had driven both of them to the resort, offered to give me a lift as I did not stay too far away from her. We stopped by the stalls and bought a few of the fresh produce for ourselves, and also made a quick stop for lunch before heading home. (Yeah… we broke fast on Sunday itself.)

And THAT was the end of the detox retreat!
